Every student learns differently, this includes how and where they sit or stand in the classroom. This past school year, I implemented some flexible seating into my classroom. My students loved having a choice in where they learned. As other classes would walk by my room I would hear, "I want to be in that classroom!" My students started talking about what would make the flexible seating better in the classroom. They loved brainstorming new seats for the room, some as crazy as a hammock. Two things stood out the most in their conversations... a couch and stools with backs.
