As Alexander Pope said: "A little learning is a dangerous thing.," and recent events, like the shooting of Malala, have further proven this to be true. The 7th graders I teach are at a pinnacle point in their brain development; they are learning empathy and the fine art of critical thinking. I believe it is absolutely essential to help foster these skills in a way that the canned curriculum cannot. How will I achieve this daunting task of reaching the pre-pubescent mind and daring it to think outside of the social-drama-box? With books, of course!
