My students live in a rural community where life's basic resources can be scarce. They come to school looking for acceptance and encouragement. In order to provide these for my students I do my best to build their confidence academically and socially. My school district provides the best it can with its limited budget. It’s not enough just to provide the students with books or magazines, but as well to teach children the benefits of reading and to encourage a love for it. The love for reading develops as students are introduced to the various genres and given the chance to make their own reading choices. Since these children have limited resources at home, they show a genuine interest in any resources we provide for them at school. I want to help them know there are many different genres and the place each genre has in our lives. I want them to grow into well rounded adults who have had as many opportunities as possible.
