The classroom library has become the hub of our room and the heart of my teaching. The books are at our fingertips. Using the books students WANT to read has helped them to be interested in what they NEED to learn. Students now want to challenge themselves and use the reading strategies I teach them so they can experience any book they choose to read. I use the library to help even my struggling readers find the right book and have the confidence to tackle anything they want to read regardless of their reading level. By donating to our project, you are giving students books to be used as powerful tools to help build empathy, create dreams, support opportunities for equity and freedom and to choose hope. Words are power. By help us to collect these books, we will be able to create foundations for much needed conversations. HOPE NATION is a collection of short personal moments from some of our favorite authors. POET X is a novel told in verse about an Afro-Latina heroine who refuses to be silent. AMAL UNBOUND tells the story of a Pakistani girl's fight to regain her life and dreams after being forced into indentured servitude. DOWN AND ACROSS is a coming of age novel featuring to power of grit! Our Project LIT book clubs will help students to bring people together through reading.
