The kids at my school are great and an absolute blast to play with at recess, unfortunately most of them come from low income homes and live in poverty. They love playing so much as all kids do, but are limited to only a few activities and as the year goes on their equipment either breaks, pops, or disappears. Our school is well run elementary school in Philadelphia. Our principal loves her job very much, in fact she turned down a great promotion just to stay here and be at the school she loves and runs so well. With the school budget issues increasing and low income area the school already resides in, it is sad to see the disappointment on the kids faces when I can't have enough balls out for recess, they have to use a volley ball or soccer ball for kickball, their dodgeballs are ripped and mangled, and their basketball hoop was stolen or broken by big kids playing after school again.
