Our students already have numerous barriers to their learning, whether it be acquiring the English language, matters at home, lack of parental involvement, low-income, single parents, and/or not knowing where they will get their next meal. We are a Title 1 school with a high economically disadvantaged population. However, we want to teach our students that with proper education, they're not limited to their surroundings. Instead, they can make something of themselves and go for their dreams. We teach our students to set goals and go after them. We believe that ALL students can learn and have potential in life. Help support our school and community, by giving towards our project for a grade level set of Rekenreks that will help our students gain basic number sense in mathematics. Our district has adopted a new concept for teaching our students to learn basic number sense. We know that students must have a strong foundation in understanding numbers before they can reach their full potential in learning mathematics. Although, the district believes in the use of Rekenreks to help our students achieve basic math skills, they do not plan to purchase class sets for our school.
