Perfect Imperfection. That is how I would describe my 4th grade class of 36 students in West Baltimore. We are not a perfect bunch. I am a new teacher, working hard to instruct them the best I can and the students are an enthusiastic group who love to be involved in the classroom. They jump up and down in their seats during science experiments. They laugh when we do funny readings in class. They shake and wave their hands in the air, as if their lives depended on it, when they know the answer to a question. They draw me pictures that they give to me on their way out the door, even after they have had an especially tough day in class. Together, we are eager, we are excited and we are helping each other reach perfect perfection this school year. The school itself is located in an under-served area of Baltimore and while the school itself is bursting with innovative and enthusiastic teachers and administrators, we could definitely use extra resources.
