I am a teacher who is new to second grade after teaching fourth grade for four years. I have a very energetic bunch of boys and girls! We are beginning the Daily 5 reading program, and unfortunately, most of my books are way too difficult for my class. Our school is in a high-poverty area that has been greatly affected by job loss. Most of my students are reading below their grade level, and difficult texts make them lose interest and feel that reading is impossible.
