First graders have active minds and bodies. Sitting in chairs at tables is not always the most productive way for them to work. They often fidget or get up from their seats. This often distracts other students from their work as well. The balance balls, wobble chairs, and wobble cushions will allow them to be active with their bodies while maintaining focus on their work. My students will be allowed to choose these types of seats, standing desks, regular chairs and tables, a short table where they can sit on the floor, or clipboards to lay on the floor and work. The whole class will benefit when each student has what they need to maintain focus. Our class needs balance balls, wobble chairs, and wobble cushions to stay focused and do our best work.
