OUR students participate in both the Spanish Immersion program and traditional language classes. Their proficiency levels range from Novice Low to Advanced Low. In terms of student outcomes, having the language lab in our school has impacted instruction in these ways: Integration of speaking practices into routine classroom practices Increased student comfort with speaking and oral proficiency Increased focus on task Opportunities for immediate feedback In terms of teacher effectiveness, having the language lab in the classroom has impacted instruction in these ways: Increased emphasis on performance assessment Improvement in classroom management in pair & partner work More effective use of class time Developing strategies for using the language labs for reading and writing activities as well as speaking and listening activities Increased reliability with rubric based scoring of performance assessment
