I have 25 students in my classroom, in an area outside of the Nation's Capitol. Many of my children are new to school, but beg me every morning to teach them a new word, a new sound, or a new place in the world. These students still have the joy of learning, something which I hope to preserve in them for many years to come. As a first year teacher, I am trying my best. Even though my school has a lack of resources, I have spent over $800 just to get books for each of my students to enjoy during centers. Teachers and students are being held to high standards, such as fluent use of technology, even though the resources are not fully provided. When they try to form a line while talking and pushing outside my room in the morning, their questions, and their wide eyes for every book I hold up is what keeps me going.
