In order to effectively take care of bees in the bee garden, all of our students need protective bee suits and gloves. Unfortunately, our club is just now getting going well and there are not enough funds to provide each student with appropriate gear. Once our students have the protective gear, they all will be able to venture out into the bee garden to "work" the bees in the hives. As students have hands-on experience in the hives, they will all become more knowledgeable about bee behavior, jobs of bees, making of cone and honey, pest management, and ways to keep the hives healthy. Students can then "teach" others in the school and community. Once students are able to harvest the honey, they will learn to package and advertise in order to sell the honey at school functions and in their community.
