The students at my school are wonderful kids. They come from very low income families that have very little to provide for their kids. All of our students are on free lunches. Often, the only meal that they receive are provided to them by the school. If it was not for the generosity of Metro Shoe Warehouse, many of our kids would not have appropriate shoes to wear to school. What I love about teaching these students is providing them with the emotional, social and physical support that they need to succeed. Many of the students have a home life that is stressful which distracts them from focusing on learning in school. If I can give these students a kind word, a positive attitude and most of all hope, then maybe, I can make a difference in their life.
