Our first graders come from very diverse backgrounds and have a wide variety of needs. They are a mix of English language learners and students with disabilities. The majority of children do not have access to books at home or families that are able to read to them. The time spent reading and being read to in our classroom is the only exposure some of our students have to the wonderful world of literature.
