My students are survivors. They come from an unprivileged community; overcoming obstacles like drug-infested areas before reaching my classroom. Despite the challenges, they are highly motivated to achieve greatness. It is my school's first year offering PreCalculus Honors, with the anticipation of offering Calculus AP next year. My students often stay until 6pm after school to work on their math projects and assignments, thus showing their commitment to excellence. They also have a good sense of humor and are witty. They are eager to learn higher mathematics and determine to prove to themselves that they can handle the workload. My staff and principal are very supportive. Our vision is that students reach self-actualization. If I had to describe my school with one word it would be: Oasis!
