My students come predominately from poor homes (we are a 95% free and reduced lunch school) and have had little personal enrichment. They are learning to read and write, which can be challenging because they are English Language Learners. They also lack support from home and do not have their own books to practice reading with. These readers will give the children the opportunity to practice at school and home, as well as give enriching experiences. My students are predominately Hispanic and are English Language Learners.
