My school is one of the 15 lowest performing schools in a city that is struggling. The school services a community where 47% of adults are functionally illiterate and around 42% of households in our area live in poverty. My students, despite their struggles, come to school everyday ready to learn and participate. My students inspire me. They come to school ready for the day to begin, eager to learn, and ready to explore new things. They have overcome many obstacles in their lives and I am committed to creating a classroom environment centered around the success of each an every student. My goal is to make sure that each of my students has every resource and tool that they need to achieve all of their dreams. I know many donors share this vision with me and I am so grateful to work with an organization such as Donors Choose who know the importance of education.
