The recognition and use of short vowel sounds is a fundamental skill of reading that my students are currently needing a little extra support with. My students need multiple opportunities to hear, say, and read these sounds, and to make a connection to the corresponding letter. These materials will enable my students to engage in activities that involve these short vowel sounds. They will also be used to proceed into the learning of other reading skills such as language, vocabulary, and early comprehension. I will work with them in small groups to help them recognize these sounds and then let them use the materials for independent practice.
