An artists sketch is a necessary tool that allows them to record their world around them. The best part is that it can be used in art class, at lunch, in the car and at home. It gives students the opportunity to make observations in the form of drawing and writing, about the world around them. This is the goal of the sketchbook, to look. Additionally, it keeps students eyes off screens. For my class, students goals are to make these observations and fill their sketchbooks by working daily. They need to see the world around them.
