Of all the instruments in the band, clarinet and saxophone are two of the most popular choices. Students enjoy playing these instruments because of their sound and the popularity of these instruments in pop music and jazz music. One of the most important accessories a band student needs to play a clarinet or saxophone is the reed. The reed helps to create the sound and a quality reed greatly increases the students’ ability to grow as musicians both individually and as a group. We discuss often in rehearsal how each student musician is an important piece to our musical puzzle. With these reeds, my clarinet and saxophone students can continue to grow, develop and excel as young musicians.
