Help me to turn learned helplessness to learned greatness! I teach a multi-grade self contained special education class in a wonderful elementary school. I have a colorful rainbow of personalities in my room. One common trait shared among most of these students is "learned helplessness." Learned helplessness is a phenomenon in which individuals over time, from what I see as a result of repeated failure, become less willing to attempt tasks. They have started to give up on themselves and I can't let them loose hope that they can achieve great things!!
