My students live in a beautiful supportive community in the suburbs of San Francisco. Our elementary school's non-profit foundation provides for music instruction to the 120 instrumental music students who blossom from young vocalists in the early years, to musical instrumentalists ready for top flight middle school band and orchestra programs when they leave our school. Their parents rent their children's instruments and supply their music books. What they need now are more music stands from which they read their music during class instruction. My project will be used by all instrumental music students in the school. In music we learn patterns of rhythm and pitch, tempo, beat, dynamics, rhythmic notation and instrumental performance. Students also learn important life lessons, such as the importance of practice and rehearsal to achieve performance quality results. They learn valuable behavior lessons by demonstrating proper decorum as both audience and performer.
