Our goal is to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere when students walk in the room. Our school begins at 8:05 daily. Students are able to enter the classroom at 7:45. This gives students 20 minutes to get supplies together and prepare themselves for the day. This is more time than they need, and students struggle with knowing how to fill this time productively. I would like students to have the opportunity to work with a partner to figure out various hands-on puzzles and games. This will not only get the students motivated to start the day, but they will be using language to communicate and work together. This will benefit all students, especially my ELLs.
