The students in my school are middle to low income. I teach in a Title I school with 90% free or reduced price lunch students. Budget cuts have made it difficult to purchase the manipulatives that I need to make my classroom active with hands-on centers, so I find myself spending my own money for many supplies. I teach a full day pre-k class with 20 students. They are very curious and eager to learn but are only able to sit still for short periods of time. My students learn best by being able to work in small active group centers where they can manipulate materials.
