My classroom is made up of students from all walks of life....students who have a great support system at home and students with no support at all. When I look at these 11-13 year old students, I see the challenging opportunity to create a love for math. Many of my students struggle with the basic math facts that are an important foundation for future math success. Because of this lack of knowledge, several of my kids scored below grade level on the state test. My goal is for these students to see that math can be fun. I strive to make math "make sense" to these students. These kiddos have a difficult time seeing the importance of memorizing math facts and other math concepts. They can, however, memorize song lyrics and steps to conquer video games. Since these students are surrounded with technology, it only make sense that using technology in the classroom (videos, games, apps, etc...) will help extend the comprehension of important information.
