I teach a group of creative and energetic high school students. They have little access to art classes and I want to give them every opportunity for the 18 weeks that they are in my class. Over 60% of me students are on free or reduced lunch, so they rarely get to take extra curricular art classes. By providing a kiln for firing their glass artwork they get to work with a very interesting and unique material. I want to bring a life long appreciation of art to them and broaden their horizons. I also work hard to get my students to stretch their creativity and fine motor skills in my art class.
