McLoughlin is a high-need school. We have many Hispanic, low-income, low-performing, English Language Learners who attend class every day. Our students need a distraction at recess to be able to get their energy out of their system so they can focus in the classroom. They need to be able to learn how to behave properly outside so they can use all of their learning minutes in class. They need to be able to function as a team and play sports so when they grow up they can also work as a team at their future job. We are in need of playground equipment in general because we are located in the middle of the city and our equipment keeps getting stolen or broken. Its hard to replenish something like a ball each year, it's so much easier to ask for paper and staplers that balls. The community needs to understand that simple things like playground balls make such a huge difference for little kids in all areas of the
