My school focuses on dropout prevention. The school is located in the city and many students come from a low socioeconomic household. Most students get free or reduced lunch. Many students were not successful in the traditional classroom setting for numerous reasons (i.e. lack of attendance due to childcare or jobs, anxiety in a large classroom setting, and/or not being successful in other programs). These students come to science with a wide range of understanding of various scientific concepts but are often missing the real life applications that connect what they are learning to them. These materials will provide those real-life connections. This could also be an effective study place for our students with ADHD or high levels of anxiety as a safe place to sit and study.
