My students consist of 6 and 7 year old children who are very eager to learn. They are energetic, friendly, and curious. My students thirst for knowledge, but have not yet developed the capabilities of sustaining their attention. My school is located in a rural area and is attended by a number of students from low income families. My school is a traditional school that focuses heavily on work done with a paper and pencil. We have a couple of computer labs and only one portable lab. Because of the little technology we have, it is hard to find a time to get my first grade class into a lab. This is where it would be nice to use the portable lab. However, our school does not have the WiFi capabilities to run 32 devices all streaming at once. Recently, the surrounding area was outfitted with fiber optics, but I have not benefited from it due to inadequate resources in my classroom. Therefore, without a WiFi hotspot, we do not have the capabilities of using technology.
