I am a 3rd Grade Teacher and have the pleasure of teaching many talented and creative students. I teach in a small town and in a Title I School where most of my students are part of the Free/Reduced Lunch Program. I am always looking for creative ways that will help my students succeed. As with any 3rd grader, they are constantly keeping their minds and bodies moving. Last year, I ditched the "traditional" desks and chairs and moved to collaborative tables where my students can constantly engage with each other throughout the day. This year I want to provide them options for seating. The different options of seating include 9 Wooble Learning Stools and 14 Gaiam Balance Balls. These items will take place of the traditional hard-backed chairs that are very uncomfortable for growing children.
Flexible seating is a research-based way for students to be in charge of their energy and feel more comfortable in the classroom. By donating to this project, you will be giving my students an opportunity to become more comfortable in the classroom and helping me make my classroom truly student-centered. My goal for this project is to provide a more engaging environment that will enhance student learning and will support collaborative skills for all of my sweet angels.
