My students are Title I readers. Many of my students are in the low economic population found in our district. All of my students have fallen behind in reading. I notice many students come to me daily with struggles that the majority of our school population does not have to deal with. There is limited access to books, technology and other resources at home. This is why it is so important for me, as their reading specialist and advocate, to gain access to high interest novels for them. After all, these students need me the most. It is my job to provide books for home and classroom use. While most students in my school have access to libraries, my students are not so lucky. Their families are working hard to provide and not able to spend evenings browsing for books at the library. This is my job, and I will find ways to get books for my amazing students. They matter.
