Books Are Like Box of Chocolates...there are so many genres to experience! I teach special education, primary grades. My class has a variety of needs, and the school district is unable to meet every need due to the budget. Textbooks are provided, but "fun" reading books are not provided. I have purchased books for my class, but unfortunately, it is difficult for children to have the opportunity to enjoy books on their own. The school has a blocked time where all students are participating in Silent Sustained Reading. My students cannot read independently. With the Tag Reading system, my students would be able to enjoy a book at their personal level without having to feel inadequate not "knowing the words in the books." Also, children enjoy re-reading stories they are familiar with, and with that, children do learn high frequency words which are found in many children's storybooks.
