With 76% of my class being made up of second language learners and a majority of these living in poverty, involving my students in the learning process is more important than ever. These students often become discouraged knowing that they are anywhere from two to three years behind in reading and writing. Over 600 students attend our small rural elementary with 69.71% of them qualifying for free and reduced meals. We hold high standards for our students and instill confidence that with hard work and effort, they will succeed.
