We currently have about one thousand, seven hundred and forty students in our middle school. About 85% are on free or reduced lunch. Unfortunately, money is not abundant among the students and their parents. My students are eager to learn, eager to build and definitely eager to compete. Last school year was our first year with the Robotics program at our school. With very few resources the newest kids on the block rose to the challenge and came out on top. Our team won District Finals, Regional and were one of the 42 schools invited to compete out of 600 schools in the state. This in turn has brought a lot of attention to our Robotics program. The news of our success and the wonderful things we are doing has sparked a huge interest in this class. We are averaging 60 students every class period which we have 6 of. Now I just need the hands-on resources for my all my students to use.
