Traditional learning for special education students is a significant struggle. By doing hands on-learning we give students the opportunity to learn at their own pace and in their own way. When students are allowed to learn like this they transfer the knowledge into their long-term memory. Special education students struggle mostly with math and reading. This is why I have included many reading, science, and math materials to help prepare my students to find success and move to the next grade level. COVID-19 took hands-on learning away from my students, and this is why the materials are essential to my classroom.
