My students need a few TI-84 Plus graphing calculators to help them better understand the mathematics that is being taught in class. Access to a graphing calculator allows students to graph and compare functions, create scatter plots and many more mathematical concepts. Students will first learn how to use the calculator and will use it when graphing functions throughout their study of Algebra. In addition to practically aiding their study of math, students will also be exposed to how technology can be of use to them in their daily lives and help them with their 21st century skills. Students who have access to graphing calculators are greatly advantaged when taking these assessments. My students do not have the means to buy the calculators themselves so I am trying what I can to make the technology accessible to them. Having access to a classroom set of graphing calculators for an entire year when studying Algebra will help my students be more successful.
