My students are known as the Wildcats. We represent the University of Kentucky. We select colleges to show students the importance of a college-bound culture. Every morning, students say, "I come to school to learn and I will learn in my mind and in my heart. Failure is not an option. My goal is to succeed." Trying to instill this in students daily comes with many challenges. We are located in one of the largest school districts in America. About 98% of our student population is economically disadvantaged and lack many of the resources needed to foster a love for learning. When basic needs are not met, it is difficult for students to succeed. I want to provide them with opportunities which will provide them with rich learning experiences and an intrinsic desire to succeed.
