Everyday, these kids make me laugh. I mean, really, really laugh. They are so full of life, creativity, imagination, and joy. They teach me something new everyday. I know I am supposed to be the one to teach them, and I hope that I do in fact do that everyday, but what they are teaching me is far beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Everyday they open my eyes to a new perspective. Not the typical black and white or jaded way we see things as adults, but instead a colorful and open view. A view only an inquisitive and thoughtful child can see. I love the moments when a child makes a connection between the life they live and the content we are learning whether it is in math, science, social studies or reading. There are many times when I see them take control of their learning and teach each other what they know as I just direct the conversations. What an amazing thing to see! This is why I became a teacher.
