The materials for my project will be used to teach students explicit and systematic phonics instruction. The Science of Reading has proven that students who receive explicit and systematic phonics instruction in grades K-1 are better readers than those who do not. These supplies will be used for whole group, small group and reading intervention lessons. Students will use their dry erase boards, markers and erasers to read, code and build words. Through this explicit, and hands on word work, they will gain the skills for word attack in reading and spelling.
