My students are 7th graders that attend a rural school with over 50% of the population on free and reduced lunch. Our school has strong interdisciplinary teams where we are working hard to create links outside of the walls of our classrooms. This begins with our STEM hallway where we are working to integrate science, math, and technology. This extends beyond the walls of the school when we involve community members as guest speakers,create online blogging opportunities, and encourage research into content-based career options. We strive to encourage students to foster a love of learning and a love for math, science, and technology. Additionally, we are trying to increase the number of girls that strive to reach the top in these areas.
