My students are 8th graders at a charter school in southwest Philadelphia. Many of my students face extreme challenges and come to school hoping for an outlet and exciting learning experiences. Although I've taught science for a few years, it is my first year at this new school and I was shocked to see how little lab equipment and science materials I would have at my disposal. Many labs and valuable learning experiences I'd like to do with my students are not possible because we don't have the proper lab equipment or measuring tools. I'm hoping to be able to change this and leave a lasting impact with my school. I want my students to really "do science", not just read about it or be tested on it. I hope that with your help, we can make this dream possible!
