My seventh and eighth graders are students who are using mathematics to help make sense of the world around them. They are learning about themselves and what it takes to solve a problem with every math equation they solve. My school is a project-based constructivist school where the students are given an opportunity to explore the world around them and make connections that relate to them. We speak more about the process than about the solution with a heavy focus on our class being a community, much like the school.
