My students are happy, loving students who work extremely hard. I work with children with Autism. All of my students love school and love to learn. The students at my school are assessed using Assessment on Basic Language Learning Skills Revised (ABLLS-R). Children with Autism have a language deficit. So the program allows the children to build their language so they can move on to academic work. The skills ABLLS-R prepares the students language by teaching them receptive skills, intraverbal skills, visual performance skills, and tact (labeling skills). The school focuses on these skills to give students the language they need to succeed. ABLLS- R also drives instruction and student goals. Along with ABLLS-R we use Applied Behavior Analysis and verbal behavior. These approaches allows us to teach language as a behavior. It also allows us to use different behavior management strategies to gain instructional control for maximum learning for the student.
