I have 21 diverse students ready and willing to learn. Each child comes to me eager to open their minds to the world around them. They want to discover more about themselves, their community and the environment around them. My school is in a high poverty area which means many of my students do not have an abundance of books at home. Many come from single parent homes and most come from families where both parents are working one or more jobs and don't have a lot of time to spend reading. My school has been fervently working to improve our students vocabulary, language, comprehension and writing skills. Good literature and mentor texts are needed.
