The students I teach are EXCITED about learning & for many it is their first school experience, as most of our families can not afford preschool. We are a Title I school, which means many of the students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. In fact, 80% of the students at my school are on free or reduced lunch. In my class, I am lucky to have a diverse group of kindergarteners, as I have students from many different ethnic backgrounds with five different languages spoken in my class of 20. About 40% of my students get language services of some kind. Many of the students in my class receive resources from our school such as: clothing, school supplies, food for the weekend, etc. because of their low income living situations. I want my students to know that school is a safe place to come to learn and that I BELIEVE in them.
