Our school participates in the Leader In Me program along with the Positive Behavior Intervention Support program. With our school using both of these programs, we are teaching the students how to find the leader within themselves and the teachers are using positive interventions to better the behavior within the classrooms and within the school. My students come from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds and we have a lot of family diversity. All of our students qualify for free breakfast, lunch and snack through a grant the district receives due to the poverty level of our families. The students are prominently African-American however, we do have a mixture of Caucasian and Bi-Racial also. The academic level of the students I work with range from students that are 3 grade levels below their current grade level to students that are 3 or more grade levels above their current grade level.
