Our school is located in the outskirts of the Appalachians. The county has a beautiful landscape with rolling mountains, deep rivers, and lakes. Unfortunately, the county is the poorest in the state, with the largest employer being the school system. All of my students have been diagnosed with a disability and are trying to learn to their full potential. They work hard and try hard. Our school is tight-knit and is a family environment. The entire community is like a large family, rarely do you meet a stranger. Students take pride in their Appalachian heritage, with many students going on to trade school or graduating to work their family farm.
