I teach in an at-risk , high poverty area in Laporte, IN There is a rising percentage of Hispanic population of students. The highest population is African American students. The last few years our test scores have shown that our male population is struggling. I have a class this year where the boys love to read. My goal is to present as much literature to them that I can. If I can teach them to love reading, I believe there will be more academic success, than behavioral issues.
