We work at a Kindergarten-8th grade school where half of our students are enrolled in a Spanish-English immersion program. Our school is identified as a Title 1 school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch each day. Our community is very diverse, and over 10 languages are spoken at home by our families! We are also identified as a focus school, which means that our students have historically under-performed on state-wide standardized testing. As a result, additional enrichment opportunities are offered to students both during and after school. As a speech-language pathologist, myself and our learning center teachers work to support students who qualify for special education services, both academically and socially.
