Textbooks are a great resource for teaching informational text. However, we live in an informational digital age, and if we want our students to have up-to-date information, then magazines are our best bet. Engaging students in the learning process increases their attention and focus, motivates them to practice higher-level critical-thinking skills, and promotes meaningful learning experiences. These magazines will be used for independent reading, summarizing, inferencing, and other language arts skills. My goal as an educator is to expose my students to a plethora of reading materials that will captivate their imagination and engage them in the wonderful world of reading.
